Letting the Moon
light your path
Even the most ordinary ambitions—making your bed each day, discovering a hidden gem in your neighborhood, practicing random acts of kindness—can shift how we experience life. This process won’t give you answers, but it will offer rhythm and reflection. It’s a gentle guide to meet yourself, again and again, with curiosity, not control.

Using the moon’s cycle as it moves through its phases is a natural way to track any aspect of life. It is a measurable beacon of time and progress. The moon moves through every sign of the zodiac in one cycle. I pause with our moon at four waypoints: new moon, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter. You might choose to have more frequent checkpoints, using the waning and waxing crescent phases. Or, you might choose fewer, being guided by the new or full moon phases. It is your story at your pace.

The signs of the zodiac represent archetypal energies. We all possess these aspects, whether they are the mask we wear by default or pushed deep into the shadows of our psyche. These energies are far from prophetic or predictive. They serve as a framework for reflection. They help us name the focus for each cycle by offering language and structure to navigate life with some gentle guidance. If the moon’s phases shape how we move through a cycle, the zodiac sign can offer insight into what we are moving through. This pairing of the moon’s rhythm as it moves through the stars guides the themes of the cycle. It is an invitation to notice where our cells and souls thrive and struggle.

Tarot is a tool for introspection. The images in the picture are actors on a stage and we are the director and writer of the play — we are even the actors. I create tarot spreads that follow the format of situation → support (internal) + support (external) + challenges (internal) + challenges (external) → overall guidance & flow.

expansive vision → sacred shelter
Our moon moves through each sign in the sky, just as she does every cycle.
This moon cycle begins with a new moon in Sagittarius on December 19, around 6:45 pm MT. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign. That is to say that its a creative, energetic, see-where-the-night-takes-us type of energy. In the story of the stars, Sagittarius is that feeling after trekking through the darkest nights. It is that feeling of achievement, like you can do anything, after navigating the deepest oceanic trenches of Scorpio.
The waypoints to regain direction are the first quarter in Aries (December 27) and the last quarter in Libra (January 10). The cycle culminates with a full moon in Libra on January 3, in the wee hours of the morning.
From Sagittarius to Cancer, this becomes a practice of external freedom to emotional home — exploration to compassion. Intersected with Aries and Libra, let this be a chance to pursue freedom while tending emotional roots. Travel outward and inward—let exploration expand your sense of home. Balance expansive goals with nurturing rituals. Embody wisdom that includes softness, memory, and intuition. Create a family of choice that supports your growth.

New moon in Sagittarius

Dream It
When the moon and sun are on the same side of the Earth, we see a new moon. Applying symbolism to this event where the moon is our inner self and sun is our outer, this alignment of our selves beckons a start or renewal of a process. Consider what aspects of your day-to-day you can focus on, or even what steps to take for a larger project or goal. Set your intentions and define the steps – what does progress look like to you?
Take a few days to mull it over. Start with things that are close to you. Small habits matter. If your overall goal for this 28 days (that starts at Sagittarius) is to try more variety of food, try a new restaurant in a neighbouring community.
